I am leaving this review because we recently purchased a previous Revain Portta 1x8 splitter but they ran out of them and sent us these new models instead. Unfortunately, the newer models have some issues that you should consider before buying that the older models didn't have. Please note that we have dozens of Portta HDMI v1.3 splitters of various sizes that have been in use in various settings and configurations for over 4 years. This rating only applies to new models recently released by Portta. First, the newer models don't support directional HDMI cables. Directional cables are typically longer cables that run through your building or home to carry signals 60 feet. The old Portta splitters worked great with every type of HDMI cable we've ever used, but the new ones don't work with directional cables, regardless of length. Second, the new Portta splitters suffer from the sync loss problem that many modern HDMI splitters suffer from. This is probably because most of these new splitters use the same basic processing chips as everyone else. So this means that when you turn on new displays, those already on will lose signal (for a very short time) which can cause all sorts of problems including a temporary screen flickering or a syncing issue when you're streaming. Use of other audio/video processing or capture devices. This occurs regardless of the combination of display types or resolutions. This is very annoying and makes these new models unusable in any professional environment. Finally, the new splitters are equipped with very low-power DC adapters, which appear unusually small in view of the current requirement of a maximum of 500 mA per port. Their old adapters for 1x8 were 3500mA @ 5V adapters, while the new ones for 1x8 are only 2000A @ 5V. While the 2000mA adapter is within the minimum specs, it doesn't seem to be enough to allow full bandwidth operation with all 8 outputs to support at the same time. Since we couldn't get all 8 ports to work in any of our setups, we can't know if this is true or not. Portta's old v1.3 splitters were phenomenal. They had no issues with any setup we ever wanted to work on. If you can find them and aren't using 4k, we would suggest one of these. However, some sellers will still display older models for sale but will send you newer models instead. Older models have blue inscriptions on the blocks, and newer ones are black and white. These newer models are a lot less efficient, but for simple home viewing purposes you may be fine with them and you may not even realize these problems exist. However, both series still come with inferior DC adapters, inferior materials that lead to rapid failure and are extremely susceptible to power quality fluctuations...but that's the bane of the modern electronics space, as most DC adapters that we get, these get days are rubbish. If your Portta splitter fails, the most likely problem is the DC adapter and not the device itself. So replace that adapter first before spending more money on the whole kit.
