I bought this as a Christmas present but the seller actually contacted me to see what I thought and told me it would when first opened, made of very strong plastic/lacquer, there is an odor - and what to do about it. I decided to open it up and have a look before packing it up for Christmas. It has a very strong formaldehyde/plastic odor. I turned the bag inside out so it can air out first. Brushes: I pulled the pack down to allow the bristles to air out as well. I wipe down the pouch with soap/vinegar and water and also gently rinse the brushes and let them air dry if they still smell after a week. After a week the smell of the bag is almost gone. I'll check the brushes. This is the only downside to these brushes. PROS - they are great! There were more brushes than I can handle, but someone who is really knowledgeable about makeup will know what to do with them and will be very pleased. The bristles are soft and professional (feel and look). The pens are professional and well made. The bag and the box are very beautiful. I am very happy with the purchase and I hope that the person I bought it for really likes it. I would buy again and use this seller again.
