I plan to travel a lot in the future so I took this and tested it in my cabin where I don't have wired internet. I was able to get the data on my phone so I figured this would work for me. Setup was easy and I emailed tech support to add a free US 8GB data plan. They replied pretty quickly (same day). First I tried to insert the phone's SIM card into the device to test it. It worked very well. Then I tried to use their data package. The device kept restarting in an endless loop. I tried resetting the device every way I could think of but in the end a factory reset via their app worked. After that, the data package worked for about 1 day before the device restarted endlessly. This time the device wouldn't stop restarting no matter what I did. I tried emailing tech support and got no response after a week so I returned it for a refund. I figured this would be a good temporary solution for places where it's difficult to get a local SIM card or for the first day of landing in a new location. Sometimes you don't want to connect to a dodgy public Wi-Fi just to get directions to your hotel, or you don't want to spend 2 hours activating a SIM card at a phone shop abroad. But it was absolutely useless unless I put a SIM card in it. Tech support never responded so I don't know if the device is bad or not. However, I don't feel like I can count on it for this experience and the lack of customer service on the matter tells me they won't support a failed device. A bad sign for something to rely on when travelling.
