Just got my grandmother's 1949 Remington Rand, still working, with dry tape. I remember using it for school reports as a kid before we had our first Apple computer with a black and green screen. Now that I'm a writer I feel like having this in my life again is a dream. I took a chance with this generic replacement hoping it would work. Out of the box it obviously didn't slip into the coils. The universal spool has a star shaped piece that should expand to fit your typewriter's slot, but mine requires an open circle. The good news is that I was able to pull out the star shaped piece in the center of the coil to get the circle I wanted. After that I had a fresh working ribbon. I can't even tell you how happy I am that it works. Thank you for keeping them available for those of us with nostalgia for vintage typewriters. I will buy more.
