This kit worked like a charm when I needed to fix a broken gear screw. The process I went through to remove the old broken cross-threaded bolt severely damaged the bolt hole threads. The upper gear housing is made of aluminum, so this coil bobbin kit worked very well. I used the recommended drill bit, 1/4" I believe, to enlarge the bolt hole. Then I used a tap very slowly and steadily (I put a small drop of anti-seize compound in the grooves/end of the tap to... to lubricate it and catch the metal shavings) and punched the hole. I didn't have a faucet handle so I had to use an outlet to hold the faucet. There was little resistance at first so I only did 1/16th to 1/8th at a time When I got to a good thread the hammer went through with no resistance. I unscrewed the hammer and used the coil insertion tool to place the coil in the freshly threaded hole. I didn't have a holder for this tool either so I had to use a reverse torx/star bit to hold the insertion tool in. It took a few tries to get it in the hole but when I did it went in fairly easily.I have blue screws Used fuse on the spool when I installed it and also on the last screw when I installed it. Overall this kit worked great and I was able to tighten the bolt to spec and it has held in place for a couple of weeks now. I am satisfied with the product.
