You need to connect your iPad to an Ethernet network, that's your product. No special software is required to use it with my iPad Pro. Just plug it in and it will connect to the network. I've found that sometimes I have to plug in the adapter when I sign in for the iPad to recognize it. This is great if, for example, you can't use WiFi to connect to a network for security reasons, or you just don't want WiFi radio waves propagating around your home.
