I didn't even realize that my light switches were to close to the trim of the back door for this to fit. The basic, small plastic covers barely fit there and this is wider by about 1/4" on each side. That was my mistake for not checking measurements like I usually do. I wasn't planning on using black covers in other rooms originally, but I think I will just go ahead and do that as there are a couple of double switches in other areas that don't have the issue of being right by any trim pieces, and I don't want to return this cover just because I didn't make certain it would fit where I wanted it in the dining room. It will look great in the living room when we get to that room, we are working on a room at a time. I have to get new covers for the whole house anyway as most of them were broken when we moved in and the few that are not broken have been painted over so many times they look terrible. I was going to coordinate the light/outlet covers with the color schemes of the rooms, but if I just go black everywhere it would keep it simple and give more room to change colors/themes later on. This cover has a metal plate inside for extra support and looks/feels durable. The screws are a good length and I didnt have any trouble with the paint chipping on my screws when I tried it for fit, I used my set of small screwdrivers that I keep for the screws to the battery covers of the holiday decor though and not a full sized one. They don't have to be tightened down as hard as most people tend to. Just until they stop, no need to force them tighter like with furniture or other things that bear weight. Time will tell on how well it wears as its just coated on one side over lighter plastic, as opposed to the plastic itself being black. Not a big deal for me really, for the price I'm not worried if it doesn't last indefinitely. I really do love the look and feel of this cover.
