If you already have a nice butt, it will be emphasized. There is no compression in this garment, so there is no butt lift or tummy control. This is a very thick, bubbly material. I could go smaller but that wouldn't help with lifting or control, it would just make me feel like I had 10 pounds of sausage in a 5 pound bag. I bought the large, I'm 5ft 3" and 145-150lbs. I've read all the reviews and very few mention the complete and utter lack of compression. I think most of them are blessed with peachy booties. I'll leave them as regular leggings, but according to Simon Cowell, "they're not for me".
