Update: The part failed and I replaced it with an Audi genuine Pittsburgh unit. My 2006 Audi A3 ran sluggishly for about a year. I've tried all sorts of things and couldn't figure out what the problem was. Well many people have said to replace the bypass valve because the original was of poor design and they always failed. Of course when I went to change it, the old one leaked oil all over the place and it was a total mess. After the replacement, I immediately noticed the difference, the car started to drive much better. I didn't have any codes or anything to tell me I was losing boost so definitely just replace it. Removing the old one is a pain, it's really a bottleneck to remove those 5mm hexes that I had to use several different types for. Be careful not to take them off. All information about the manufacturer was brought together on the diverter valve, which is very schematic.
