We have had this unit for 3 weeks. Delivery was quick. We replaced the gas logs in our fireplace with this electric unit. Looks pretty realistic. There are multiple flame and intensity options that can be adjusted to suit visual preferences. We like the two-stage heating. The device is easy to install - plug in and then plug in. Preparing an old stone fireplace box for a new block takes the most time. There is a draft in the existing firebox, air flows through the ash pan and chimney. We used R 7.5 1 1/2" thick insulation boards to line the old firebox. Also ran a 120v power line and socket into the firebox (through the ash pan). The firebox opening was slightly higher than the firebox in ours In this case we used black painted cobblestones as spacers on the bottom of the device.
