If you're shooting sports or concerts, this is a great addition to your arsenal. The capsule is well made although the clasps are plastic, reaches to a good height and is well filled (has a retractable spiked leg and a cool body). For the price you can't beat it. Period. If you're not a pro, don't waste your money on more expensive brands, that's all you need. Mine is used several times a year (school sports and concerts). After a few years of headless use, I recently added a tilted Manfrotto head that costs more than the pod itself! But I wanted a quick release, hence the addition. Highly recommended! Update August 2013: I have read the negative reviews others have posted and I sympathize with them. However, my piece was a great purchase as it is still being used with no issues. All leg locks are as tight as they were that day with no slipping and the pod feels solid. It's lightweight and should be tolerated and not used with heavy TVs etc. However, it is annoying to hear that the main screw has fallen off etc. I will be careful and vigilant to make sure I don't run into the same problem. .When I bought it I had never used a monopod and didn't know if I would want to use one. But over the past few years I've found I can use it quite effectively for sporting events and children's concerts, mostly with a 70-200VR lens. If he dies I will replace him with a real Manfrotto but he doesn't seem to want to die!
