Loyal to the Lenovo brand. I have used Lenovo business laptops since their original incarnation at IBM and have always been satisfied. I currently use the X1 Carbon for work and I think it's the best laptop I've ever used. shitty shoot. The original Ideapad, which came in multiple colors, worked great and had a good keyboard, but was undersized with a thick border. Later, the larger versions were pathetically slow, and the keyboards - Lenovo's usually excellent ones - were in other words terrible, like most other laptops. I've bought and returned a few over the last few years so I know what I'm talking about. I was considering spending between $700 and $1200 for a new laptop. and turn my back on Lenovo. Then I saw the review of the Ideapad 1 and thought again. The Ideapd 1 is inexpensive, but it doesn't look cheap. The keyboard doesn't match the X1's sophistication, but it's head and shoulders above many high-end devices. As with the X1, the keyboard is perfectly positioned for typing without the awkward reach (like most laptops and Chromebooks) and you don't feel like you're hitting a calculator. If you write a lot, this is the budget laptop for you. Can't speak to graphics or storage - I don't play video games and I save everything to USB - but I will say the display is weak. This is partly due to the anti-glare screen. If you mainly work in Word or check email, this should take some getting used to and not really a disadvantage. The optics are impressively smooth. ", The top of the lid and the keyboard surround have a metallic, smooth feel. While the rest is textured plastic, the side bezels are thin, and the viewing area is oblong rather than square, the Ideapad 1 actually (surprisingly) looks exactly the same , as it is advertised.
