I decided to give my daughter a 10 month old baby when we stopped rocking and breastfeeding to help her fall asleep. My sister had this love someone gave her but my nephew didn't accept it so she passed it on to me. I started out by tucking it under her arm while she was nursing, rubbing her cheek as I put her to bed, and holding it while I rocked her. She is now 16 months old and doesn't sleep until she picks her up (I don't know if that's good or bad but I don't have to weigh her or feed her anymore - she just needs her zebra for comfort). I can also give her this when she is in the car seat on a long drive and she will calm down and go into sleep mode. If she gets restless during our drive, her beloved zebra will calm her down. We ended up buying two spares after she had a bout of stomach flu and we found that backups were very important when we were changing sheets in the middle of the night and we didn't have the love we could give her right now! This would make a great gift for someone with a newborn (although I would probably choose a twin set so they have two!). can be thrown in the dryer but I only hang them to dry to minimize wear) and there are no buttons or parts to worry about. There also seems to be a lot of nooks and crannies that my daughter likes to rub between her fingers (ears, little feet), but it's still easy. It's small enough to fit in a diaper bag and the options are just too cute!
