Interesting but a bit pricey

Despite the high price for a second brand, I had high hopes for this case. It's amazingly light, almost featherweight - only 1 ounce by my standards. Few cases call so easily. So if that's your top priority, this case might be worth the price. But I was looking for a compromise between weight and protection, and I just didn't feel my iPhone would survive a fall with this case. When my iPhone mini has a third-party screen protector, there is almost no screen protector on the case - the edge is almost flush with the glass. Every time I damaged my phones, I would trip over an uneven sidewalk while holding my phone. (Yes, I'm a clumsy runner.) The phone is dropped face down on the pavement and the bottom corner is always scratched and/or cracked. So I want a lip that can take that kind of drop, and this Raptic doesn't pass that "what if" test. The aesthetics of the case are also strange. The metallic blue on the back is bolder than the photos. If the case was protective I would put up with it because the weight of this case is amazing. But so it's just another sign against it. If I wanted lightweight and barely protective I just wouldn't use a case. The feel of the plastic backplate was also a bit "unpleasant". The TPU and silicone used in most cases really aren't the most luxurious of materials, but the plastic here is downright depressing considering it's encasing a $700+ phone that feels amazing in bare hands . The final blow for me is the price. Using a $30 case, essentially an "unnamed" brand that offers a few useful features, would only make me question my judgment every time I looked at it. If the case offered real protection, $30 would be a steal. But I honestly can't explain why this case costs $30. Based on other cases I checked (and saved), the actual price is closer to $18.
