My test kit expires on 5/2019. I've been testing for the past 2 weeks and getting readings around 1100ppm. I started adding Red Sea magnesium and tested and it showed that the magnesium increased in proportion to my dosage, so I didn't think about it except on low magnesium. Then the magnesium continued to drop so I checked my reef crystal seawater mix and Nyos read that a fresh batch of the mix was around 1150ppm. I understand that I have a bad load of salt. I have purchased professional Red Sea Salt which is rated at 1350 ppm mg. Testing the red sea salt blend again gave me a reading of 1100ppm. The next logical step was to purchase a new mg test kit. Received the Salifert mg test kit today and I had over 1600ppm in my tank! That's over 400 parts per million difference. I have no doubt that this test kit is inaccurate because I almost spilled half a bottle of Red Sea mg into my 25g tank. I hate writing bad reviews but it could have seriously hurt my pets. Stay away from this kit.
