Solid Peppermill - Kitchen & Dining

I received this to replace a 20 year old pepper mill that my parents bought for me in Germany as a gift - it was sad to see it work but it did just didn't work. grind more. To be honest I was a little hesitant due to some reviews (and especially the photos) showing chipped and damaged windmills straight out of the box. I had no such problem. I immediately poured pepper on the sample, and it works as advertised (including grinding different fineness and fineness). Not a bad size in my opinion (my German grinder was even bigger than this and a little bulky to be honest). Looks well made. My only two comments are: 1) the wood is very "flat" (it doesn't have that nice graininess that my old mill had or that you might see on a quality desk or countertop) - no. I'm too concerned about this as I'm sure using this type of wood is three times more expensive and/or less durable for everyday use in the kitchen. 2) It doesn't seem like it can hold much - it's possible the peppercorns got stuck during the filling process as to be honest the grinder looks like it should hold a lot more than it went in (but I did no idea what is actually consuming space on the inside). Overall I would recommend it to others.
