They are good in many ways. They're easy to put on and take off, but are secure even without the included extra foot lift strap. They have tiny steel tips firmly embedded in the rubber. Although I didn't use a sling, last week I walked safely and securely over the fresh block of ice and snow left by Hurricane Gale, even with a feral dog pulling on the leash like he's training for the Iditarod. I have had other brands of shoe grip accessories over the years but these are the best for ease of use and walking security. BTW, they didn't damage the floor or carpet when I had to walk across the room to get the keys.
