The two halves are high quality stainless steel, probably 300 series. I wouldn't guess 316, but probably 304. Steel pin or low grade stainless steel. It sticks very strongly to the neodymium magnet that I keep to test the "stainless" items I buy. This tells me that there is a lot of ferrous metal, also known as steel, or low chromium/nickel content. If you live a block from the ocean they will definitely rust if the pin is out (door open). Interior door or swing door, they're probably fine.
