I've been using Verbatim for years to back up my data. The last 100 box I bought resulted in probably 50% cradles, and yes I use slower write speeds. I've also noticed that many discs have a rough/non-smooth texture around the edges, which I've never seen on a CD-R before, which definitely looks like a manufacturing issue. Of course, since I only bought them as a backup, I didn't immediately burn a bunch of them and close the "return" window before realizing how wobbly they were. I read that Verbatim was purchased by CMC Magnetics which obviously does not follow Verbatim's quality control standards. For those of us who still like having reliable backup drives, I guess it's either Tayo Yuden or Bust at the moment.
