This air purifier was used in 10ft x 10ft. Bedroom with open windows. This room is used by my daughter, who is sensitive to dust. This cleaner ran at various speeds for about 16 days. At the lowest speed (down to a whisper) it worked silently; but at the highest speed (quickly clear) it could be heard across the room. My daughter didn't notice any difference in the air quality in the room. After my daughter finished her rehearsal; I tried the air purifier in my office which is in a larger room. I used the air purifier as a fan with the exhaust blowing on me. With this type of use, the air purifier not only cools, but also cleans the air. At medium speed, the noise is the faint sound of the fan. Even at the "Quick Clean" speed, the noise is similar to the noise of a large fan, but it's easy to get used to and ignore. Cooled clean air usually makes noise.
