Review on πŸ“· Pentax K-1 Mark II Black DSLR: Full Frame 36MP, Weather Resistant with 3.2" TFT LCD - Ultimate Photography Gear by Leonard Henry

Revainrating 5 out of 5

Excellent ergonomics and excellent build quality.

I have loved Pentax cameras for over 40 years - almost 45. My first serious camera was the Spotmatic F and it had the best ergonomics of any camera available at the time. The build quality was excellent and the lenses were legendary. I've had 10,000 photos through a couple of Spotmatics used at sporting events for local newspapers, APs, action movies, portraits, weddings, college parties, and high school graduations (no pun intended, you know). Pentax was late in the game for serious digital photography and I was no longer a pro so I tried some good Canon Powershot shots but never felt quite right. A few years ago I bought a Pentax K3 II for a number of reasons (including filming sporting events for kids and a serious trip abroad) and fell in love all over again. My K-mount lens collection is growing and I really miss my old 85mm f1.8 portrait lens, but the quality of modern zooms is amazing. The ergonomics are great as always. During the legendary Houston floods and 1-inch-per-hour storms, the K3's weatherproof coating held up just as well as the lenses advertised as waterproof. I chose the K1-II because it finally has a full frame camera with Pentax ergonomics, weather protection like the K3 and improved pixel shift. at both ends of the field) between K1-II and K3 you can see the lower noise and higher quality of the K1-II. If you put the K1-II in APS-C mode, you give up full frame, but the upgraded sensor still offers higher quality than the K3. Another plus for the action is that in APS-C mode your 300mm lens becomes 450mm while still allowing the sensor to deliver better results. It's a win in every way. As for the battery life, I've used my 2 year old batteries from the K3 in the K1-II just to check. Shot all night, over 300 photos, and the battery hasn't lost a level yet. I call it impressive. K1-II can withstand any camera. The first photo (players in white and blue) was taken with a Pentax K1-II and a Pentax 55-300mm zoom lens at 108mm, 1/400sec, f4.5 in APS-C mode. ASA 25600, which is twenty-five thousand six hundred. Second photo (two blue players) - K3 II, same lens, 115mm, 1/640 sec, f5.6, ASA 25600. No retouching or cropping. The lighting on the (same) field is minimal. The lower noise level of the K1-II is obvious.

Pros
