The test liquid is leaking at the bottom of the reservoir.
I bought this hydrometer because 1 the fluid reservoir was plastic, 2 the volume calibration was engraved on the tube and 3 the float had a color coded stem. When I found the bottom of the tank is removable I figured it would be easy to clean but when the tank is filled with test liquid it leaks like a strainer no matter I reinstall the bottom or how tight I make it, so I have to use a pan or bowl to avoid clutter, which is inconvenient. I wouldn't buy this again.
