Keeping my expensive acoustic guitars from drying out or swelling from too much moisture has been a monitoring nightmare for me. I use an in-case hydrometer. What I need for one in the guitar. It was what I needed. To verify accuracy, I used calibrated Davis Instruments hydrometers. Yes, I have tested these hydrometers with two Davis weather stations. He said it was 8-10 numbers too little. My hydrometers in a guitar case showed between 27% and 29%. Putting this device in a guitar, he showed between 38 and 40%. So if we add 8 to 10 to that number, we get that my guitar is in the 48 to 50% range. IT'S GOOD. Again, Martin and Takamine guitars are expensive. I also use replacement kits for the D'Addario double-sided dampening system. These hydrometers say they work. I hope this will be helpful when making your decision.
