Good things first, the hob looks good and heats up quickly. The handles can be easily removed for cleaning and the rubber seals around the handles reliably prevent the ingress of liquid. The handles on the side are practical, they do not interfere with cooking. The labeling of the heating elements is simple and clear. I chose this cooktop over the similar whirlpool (everything else in the kitchen is a whirlpool) because the whirlpool has "holes" printed on most of the unit for each item. I was concerned that this print would scratch easily and look bad over time. If you install this professionally I would give it 5 stars. Now bad if you install this yourself: There are literally 3 wire connections (after the switch is off) and 6 screws to install, but be prepared for a trip to your local hardware store. The metal tube has no connector to attach to the junction box. The old device had a latch in the fitting that was part of the metal and could not be reused. The part I needed was only $1 from Big Orange. So how hard would it be to turn it on or the latch? The electrical connections are pretty standard so I can't figure out why this wasn't included. The block simply sits in a hole and there are metal grommets to support it and metal clamps to keep it from moving. The mounts are quite flimsy and the device can slide around a bit on a smooth tabletop. The screws provided were too small to attach the bracket to the bottom of the unit and were removed (there were 2 types of screws included, 2 sheet metal screws and 4 wood screws). I had to remove the bolts from the old block to tighten the brackets. The instructions say not to seal or glue the device, but there is some gap under the rim. What idiot thought that was a good idea? Do they never wash countertops with soap and water? My unit sits over the cabinet drawers and I don't want to open the drawer and find the contents damp and moldy. The old cooktop came with a single-sided foam tape that stuck to the countertop, insulating water, softening the glass surface, and preventing the cooktop from sliding. A nickel and a cent are also included here. Now I'm looking for a foam tape that can withstand the heat. Eventually it was shipped to USPS and for some reason they didn't deliver it to my door and had to pick it up at the post office. I'm not sure why something that big and heavy needs to be shipped to USPS. Also, the box is clearly marked with up arrows but the address/delivery label was on the bottom so it was slung across the country upside down. The box was a little wrinkled but everything seems fine.
