Maybe a broken camera?

I bought these after my old school Pentax broke. I can't believe I spent so much money on this. Nothing valuable. The cheap plastic body isn't as good as the Pentax. Rewinding is ridiculously difficult too. If you let go, it spins backwards and you have to rewind the entire tape again. However, my biggest issue with this set is the lens. I couldn't get this stupid lens to focus for me at all. I used it for a class where I had to use 50mm and the POS focused on one side of the lens and not the other! It actually made a cool effect. but unfortunately 99% of the time it blurs what should be sharp. I ended up shooting the entire semester with a tiny aperture, concentrating on landscapes and bright light shots. The lens didn't really let me take the photos I wanted. I say go to Craigslist and buy an old film camera with a good lens. TO UPDATE! A week ago my light meter stopped working, apparently just a battery issue. Well, I can't change the batteries! The battery screw is plastic and cracked in half! After hours of trying to unscrew it to change the batteries, I gave up. I will continue to use this without a light meter until I can afford to buy another film camera. Then I burn this or throw this out of a moving car at 70 miles an hour. Something that would give me a better sense of how much of a headache this camera has become for basic film photography.
