Student grade practice art notebook

Disappointed. This is a typical art notebook with double wide sheets that are folded, stitched together in sections then glued at the spine and the cover to hold the sheets to the cover. The issue is with the sheets!. One side is slightly textured. The other side is smooth pressed like a drawing sketchbook. The smooth sides cannot take on water! Even the lightest watercolor wash will quickly lift the fibers! Not a problem if this is used for multilayered collages and mixed media artwork where the pages are only used as a background to hold ephemera and thicker paints like acrylics. But, this is advertised as a watercolor pad. This can only be used for watercolor practice, a frustrating practice because 1/2 the pages will have fibers lifting and flow like water grass with the brush! Can only recommend for collages. The covers are sturdy, pages are thick to hold glues and thicker acrylic paints. The large clear back pocket can hold several die cuts and other ephemera.

Pros
  • Its acid-free nature ensures that the paper will not yellow or degrade over time, making it ideal for archival projects
Cons
  • The paper may not be ideal for use with certain techniques such as dry brushing
