Great inverter! good for jump starters, chargers and portable power supplies

This is a great inverter. The soft start function is both an advantage and a disadvantage. For some things, a soft start works great as the power can be increased until the device is running at full speed. I was able to power a couple of pro saws and he even tried and slowly started a 10" miter saw until it went to full power, exceeding its rating, and kicked it out. I tried it on a 6" joint that just wouldn't start. I tried a cheaper chinese 1500w brand (not sure of brand) without soft start function and it didn't power up the pro saws, just shut off when overloaded. Same goes for a 10" miter saw, however a cheap Chinese inverter could run a 6" router so the soft start wasn't good for this type of tool. As far as it powers almost everything else I've thrown at him, EXCELLENT! I was able to get it rated at just under 1200W and run it under load for over 3 hours on a LiFePo battery, no issues and the fans are pretty quiet. It will also be slightly above specs for 5-10 minutes before overloading sets in. I also tested it on my home server rack to see if it would be a good idea to use it as a UPS. My server rack draws just over 500 watts continuously and the inverter has repeatedly switched from grid to battery and back again without a single unit failing. Even managed to test the transfer function under full load and it worked almost flawlessly. The only "downside" was a noticeable "flicker" when going from a 400w grow light array to a 100w shop light. Overall I would recommend this inverter to anyone who needs 1000w class inverters even if they don't need a transfer function.

Pros
  • Rugged construction
Cons
  • Vulgarity
