I have a pretty nasty sprain with some ligament injuries; Level 2. I fell about 1.20 m while bouldering, but landed with my foot sideways on the soft ground. Grippy shoes on grippy ground equates to a nasty sprain. My swelling was pretty bad for the first few weeks. I still use crutches, but I'm finally starting to put weight on my leg. I couldn't use an orthosis because my foot was too swollen and tender. Only the best bandages and ice packs. I tried a corset yesterday, but it was too heavy and painful to wear. Today my swelling finally went down and this aircast is exactly what the doctor ordered. When I received this about 20 minutes ago I put it on. Very comfortable and I already feel better with the extra support over the ankle brace. I like that I can still move my foot up and down, just not as much to the side. The extra stabilization will help my injury heal faster. Definitely worth the meager $35 or so. I don't have to wear shoes because it's summer in LA. slippers for me. Once it has healed and I can cycle and climb again I will switch to my Bauerfeind Malleoloc which offers more support but is much thinner as it doesn't have air cushioning.
