Camping in Louisiana in heavy rain. 4/24/15 - 4/25/15

I went to the campsite earlier than my friends, so I started putting up this tent myself. FIRST pro, the instructions aren't printed on the piece of paper your buddy will use to start the fire, but on a large fabric tab sewn to the inside of the tent bag. There are 2 gray bars and 3 black bars. Tent sleeves are color coded, black poles in black sleeves, gray poles in gray sleeves. the last black pole forms a canopy on top of the raincoat (which, by the way, is big enough to sit under). It took me about 20 minutes to set up the tent myself, attacked by all the biting bugs Louisiana has to offer. I had a queen size air mattress, my backpack, a box fan, 2 ice boxes and there was plenty of room inside. It rained, it rained heavily, and it rained heavily. I have now found a few drops of water in the tent as I said before Louisiana. It could be due to moisture getting into the raincoat. It could be a leak. I'm sticking with the humidity idea because everything in the tent got wet after about 36 hours. Having lived in a swamp all my life, I can't blame the tent. If the size suits your needs and you have enough space to find a flat surface to pitch your tent on, I think this type is a good choice. The only thing I find negative is the zipper on the door. There is a hook that connects the tent wall to the rain canopy pole, this creates enough tension halfway to the door that the zipper pulls really hard and I'm worried it might break. I made it so the top and bottom zippers touched there rather than trying to pull one or the other through the tension area.

Pros

Cons
  • Long delivery time
