A few notes about this device: This thing is very powerful. I use this machine regularly as a laptop, and for some tasks it performs better than my other laptops, even almost as good as my desktop computer (which has become obsolete with the latest trends). I grew up with Microsoft products, so many of the features are familiar to me, even if Windows 8 is a bit awkward. Personally, I prefer Windows 10, but *don't* upgrade. The main reason I won't be upgrading - and my biggest complaint - is this device's habit of crashing on its own. It often crashes when it runs out of memory and I'm not even sure how much memory it can handle. I think memory management panics and then shuts down when it gets close to a certain threshold (seems to be around 50%!). I can't tell you how many times I've seen BSODs with some kind of "MEMORY MANAGEMENT" code marking. The problem is almost 100 times worse when Windows 10 has been installed; I was forced to do a factory reset to get my device working again. Maybe the Surface 4 is better - I only got these devices because the price was "more reasonable" back then, but given the issues I encountered. This device -- especially on Windows 10 [Microsoft is apparently dropping support for Windows 8 this summer.] -- is probably worth the extra cost of upgrading to the latest device rather than the latest OS. Otherwise, this tablet/laptop does a great job as a workstation.
