Instead of going to a chiropractor I decided to do what the surgeon suggested after me and skipped the Dupuytren operation on my ring finger. Having neglected this for about five years, my finger was pinched at a 45° angle, I was surprised at how easy the corrective surgery was. In any case, after the bandages were removed, the staff recommended that I place my fingertips on the edge of the counter and press down gently to begin stretching the tendon. It really helped, but you can't stand there forever, and all the stretches I did during the day didn't work while I slept. Today I went to the paramedic for an examination and questions about this splint that I bought for my nightwear. Said great for all night and basic socks during the day. I've been wearing it for 3 nights now and I have to tell you it's giving wonderful results. When I take it off in the morning, my finger is 95% straight. Yes, the tendon retracts like a rubber band. But not as much as the day the bandages were removed. I feel like my finger can stay 95% in alignment over time instead of flexing up to about 80%. I was told to remember to do the squats by clenching my fist multiple times and multiple times a day to ensure full movement. But the doctor's assistant liked this finger splint.
