Review on 🔍 Acer Chromebook 514 CB514-1HT-C6EV: 14" Full HD Touch, 4GB LPDDR4, 64GB eMMC, Backlit Keyboard by Gagaan Pahal ᠌

Revainrating 4 out of 5

I³'m satisfied with the product, it³'s well made and the price is also satisfying.

The laptop at the first launch is shamelessly buggy, worse than my 2022 laptop. Then, after all the ates and "million" reboots, the work becomes tolerable. I haven’t figured out yet whether it’s possible to shove another 4 giga of RAM into it, in some review I read that it doesn’t seem to be. If yes, I will definitely do it. My further plan is to buy a normal ssd (there is a separate connector on the screws for it m.2 type 2280, sata). I will transfer Windu to a new ssd (before demolishing Windows, do not forget to “pull out” the license key. I will leave the current ssd under storage. I bought my mom a pensioner that would move her brains and keep up with life. After small upgrades (ssd for sure and RAM if possible) should be tolerable, especially for the money.

Pros
  • Bright Fullhd screen with good viewing angles, licensed Windows, design, weight, price
Cons
  • 1) The sound is barn (easily solved by connecting to a bluetooth speaker, which almost everyone has) 2) The Internet is terribly slow. Pages barely load. Works only in the 2.4 band. I inserted a wifi module via usb which pulls 5Hz and the Internet flew. So you will definitely need to buy a 5GHz usb wifi module (~ 500) 3) Don't be fooled by the fact that there is an ssd in it! It has the same write/read speed as a normal hdd! (~140/140)
