Review on MSI B450 Gaming PRO Carbon MAX WiFi: Ultimate Performance Gaming Motherboard with AMD Ryzen Support, M.2, USB 3.2, HDMI, and Wi-Fi by Jeff Kickthedogband

Revainrating 5 out of 5

Ryzen 3600 finished in minutes.

I've watched many different YouTube videos about this board, as well as various Reddit forums discussing their difficulties. I went ahead anyway and bought it based on solid recommendations. I have to admit I was nervous because after pulling the trigger I read that they have some problems with the BIOS. I received it and to my surprise the box said Ryzen 3000 was ready. The problem is that it was an aftermarket sticker that didn't look official to me. Some. OK. be sure. went ahead anyway and updated the BIOS to the latest version (as of August 30th). I was shocked. It worked. But that was the easy part. Then came the assembly part. The manual was really easy to use. I humbly suggest coloring the various sections for easy and logical understanding of the information presented. It's not the first time I've built a PC, but if MSI didn't have a digital PDF manual on their support site, I might have made a mistake. MSI, you added RGB to the motherboard, add some to the manual. I am satisfied with the support on their website. Makes sense, at least to me. The board looks solid and strong. I'm by no means a professional reviewer, but the build quality is quite decent. I think they should lower the price of this board a bit as the Nahimic Audio software was difficult to download. If you value sound, I'll tell you: it's really good! And if you want to use its full potential, download the Nahimic software from the Windows Store. Don't bother downloading from the MSI support site. To save time. But while you're on MSI's support page, do yourself a favor and download the proprietary board software. I took a chance and expected viruses and I was wrong. It works. The app manager is a handy way to organize all the software. Live Update 6 made it easier to update drivers after installing Windows. (I know Windows updates drivers too, but I wanted to be sure). It has a pretty good fan pin layout and the RGB is a nice accent. My ideal motherboard would be this non-RGB board - I don't need a backlight, pass those savings on to a consumer MSI. The mainboard features in the area of capacitors, sound, the convenience of 2 NVMe and built-in WLAN were my main reasons for my purchase. In conclusion, I'm happy to say that after updating, installing Win10 Pro, running tests to make sure everything works like a Swiss dive watch, and with the XMP profile enabled, my Ryzen 3600 (non-X) is running at 4.2 Mhz running. Of course, I also use the Scythe Ninja 5 CPU cooler. It's stable, fast, and didn't break my bank account. This is my first MSi product and I am happy with it.
