Well, here are the disadvantages first, there are two of them. Brass hose fittings are junk. The pipe carvings looked like they had been gnawed by a beaver, wow those are rough. The female fitting does not rotate, so you either have to rotate the filter housing or how many feet of garden hose you connect to the water supply. Second, there are no vents at the top of the filter housing, so air is always trapped. As for the units, they worked EXCELLENT. I washed my truck and there was no longer a stain on it. Now my water is bad here, hard! Therefore, it is not surprising that the first filter turns light brown. Also my truck is a Chevy 2500HD with double cab/wa 8ft platform and tarpaulin. It has more sheet metal than my 4-door Jeep and 4-door Fiat combined. I have my device hardwired to bypass when not in use.
