I have replaced the Hydro Cell filter in my humidifier many times. Thanks to my soft water, the humidifier tank smells nice for months. Every time I change the filter, I flush it longer than the instructions say because the carbon dust can be visible during the flush for longer than expected. I also squeeze the filter slightly when rinsing to remove any remaining dust. However, after a period of time, carbon deposits will form on the ultrasonic membrane and tiny carbon fragments will remain in the tank. Both conditions are easily eliminated during cleaning and do not affect the humidifier's performance.
