I confess we bought these specifically to cut in half and use as washcloths around the house. Since they're made for grilling, it shouldn't surprise me that they're not very good for grilling. I use them with my cleaning pen on both of our grills to be honest and they work great for that! I wonder if the bits that come loose when peeled will melt or otherwise stick to the rust, but we haven't had such bad experiences. So they are fit for purpose. They're cheap, so I don't feel bad about replacing them more often. But my biggest gripe is that they seem to keep spilling little black chunks all over everything. It washes off well, of course, but it always confuses me a little. Even the ones we haven't halved seem to do so, which is why I'm concerned about what's being eaten on my grills. I've had other grill stands (Weber) in the past that didn't seem to have this problem. Maybe I have a faulty batch? Who knows. Will I buy them again? May be. I can't complain about the price. But there's a good chance I'll try another brand or two first.
