Review on ๐Ÿšฐ Enhanced Performance Replacement Filter for PUR Faster Pitcher by Joe Glass

DO NOT BUY! Those spilled fibers and particles end up in the water!

I bought 4 packs of these new shorter filters. I don't know if the first filter was broken or not. My water usually goes straight from the aquarium filter into the dark water bottle. So I didn't notice any malfunction that could occur. However, after using the second filter for a few weeks, I noticed a white piece of something fibrous hanging from the filter nozzle. The foreign body looked like paper but was so wet I couldn't identify it. I wondered where it came from. Then luckily I needed some water in a white bowl. This showed that many thin black fibers and particles were floating in the water. How long have I been drinking these fibers and particles without realizing it? Since I've been using the filter for a while, I just washed the tank and put in a third filter. Given my recent experience with these new filters, I have tested the water frequently. *After just two days* the third filter started depositing the same tiny black fibers and particles in my water. As a result, I stopped using these filters. I have a feeling that the shorter filter housing of this new design combined with the faster flow rate causes the filter to dry out too much between fills. Because the shorter body is in less constant contact with the water in the lower tank, I suspect the filter media is expanding and contracting significantly, causing rupture or movement of the internal contents. In any case, after many years of faithful shopping, I will no longer use polyurethane filters. I'd really like to hear about good alternatives if anyone knows of them. (I live in an apartment, so anything that needs to be connected to the water is out of the question for me.) Of course, I already know Brita. But are there other filter brands that readers can recommend based on their years of experience? And will any of them fit into existing polyurethane water tanks? Thanks for any help!
