Review on SANOXY_EXT SLIM CD_DVD Saxony External CD RW Writer by Aaron Bannister

BUYER WARNING: This product receives ZERO. At first I was excited. As a hardware specialist, I needed a removable drive and it seemed perfect, but then problems arose. The drive was set to "Region 3" which I reset to Region 1 (US). The software minidisk I received contained: Nero Extreme, USB drivers and version 9 of something.? for the drive itself. However, they were in Chinese and would not install on Win 7. The drive reads the DVD, but does not recognize or write blank CDs. Some DVDs are rejected even if the session is closed. I bought a DVD drive as an alternative to the fixed optical drive on my computer as a security measure, but it turned out to be a proprietary mess instead. The drive itself is not labeled externally (model, serial number, production, etc.) by which drivers could be found. I suspect Win 7 needs drivers to recognize and write data to the CD. If you need an "occasionally working" external drive, you're welcome. * The disc no longer works and can no longer be returned. It does not work with Windows XP (SP1 or 2), Windows Vista (any service pack) or Linux.
