I have been in the landscaping business for 36 years, have had clients for 29 years and every fall I clean their gutters and downspouts. Here's what I found: 1. Galvanized and aluminum mesh gutter edges degrade quickly (within a year); Old-school plastic crowns become brittle and crack in the sun; Copper mesh crowns are good BUT only for copper gutters. Otherwise you will get a bimetal corrosion effect and the metals will be affected. Polypropylene is great. I moved my PE liner from my 1990 Ford Ranger to my 2010 Ford Ranger and it's still like new (lots of scuffs and scratches but not brittle or frayed) so I tried these gutter protectors and I love the ease of installation. I have 5" and 6" gutters in my house and they work great. Another plus is that I have deicing cords that run down the downspouts on the north side and since these bits have individual pins that fit into the mouth of the downspout they were easy to route around the cords.
