Review for use in Rosacea

Metronidazole is FDA classified as an antiprotozoal and antibacterial. Metrogel is a topical prescription medication containing 0.75% to 1% concentration of metronidazole that is used to treat inflammation caused by rosacea. Unfortunately, getting a prescription for topical rosacea treatment can be difficult, and even the cost of a single medication can be prohibitive. It can be difficult to get insurance to cover the cost of topical prescriptions unless someone has very severe rosacea, but there are many people who want effective treatments for the skin condition at affordable prices. It is possible to use this off-label powder mixed at the appropriate concentration to reduce inflammation for those of us with rosacea. I've been using this product for several weeks and have had wonderful results so far! I know it can take over 6 weeks of daily use to see the best results from topical metronidazole, but I noticed an improvement almost immediately. So far I haven't experienced any irritation. I highly recommend mixing this powder with a very basic face essence or tonic rather than just water (no essential oil, no fragrance, no alcohol, no witch hazel; I'll recommend a few suitable tonics at the end of my review). A facial essence with soothing ingredients, unlike plain water, helps slow the rate of absorption of metronidazole to reduce the risk of irritation, keeps the pH at a level suitable for the skin, and contains preservatives to the mix to keep from aging or aging spoilage. changes over several weeks. I'm not good at math and will definitely ask for help next time to get a more accurate concentration, but I roughly calculated that a full scoop of powder is in a 2 ounce container. gives a little less than 1% strength, which is ideal. It seems to be working well for me because I haven't felt any irritation, but I'm seeing a good level of effectiveness. I wouldn't recommend adding extra powder for faster results; Metronidazole will still take a few weeks to really take effect and making a stronger solution will only increase the risk of a skin reaction. Overall I'm personally very happy with what this product has done for me :) How do I use the solution: shake well once a day, place on a cotton pad and gently press or sweep over the skin, paying special attention to specific areas Beware of redness and avoid the area around the eyes and mouth. Then apply a mild moisturizer. Recommendations for choosing toners/essences that work well with metronidazole: - Pyungkang Yul Facial Toner Essence - CosRx Pure Fit Cica Toner - Any of the [ONE THING] toners, specifically Centella Asiatica Extract, Houttuynia Cordata Extract or Artemisia Capillaris Extract. - Round Lab Mugwort Calming Tonic (this is what I personally use, but it's not available in Revain; you'll have to get it from SokoGlam or Jolse)
