We did tests for itching and ear infections on our dog because he is very itchy. We strongly recommend each test (you will see that our reviews are similar). We had previously tried a stool test which was negative. Not like these tests. The set is so easy! Everything you need is neatly arranged. Note: You can do this first or later, but you must register your dog on the site and 'activate' the test so that you can view the results (and share them with your vet, either by email directly from the site or in a printed form). Speaking of which, the MySimplePetLab website is very well organized and VERY informative! Also, we strongly recommend that you read the instructions first, as you'll need to plan your attack in advance. - Pick two spots that show irritation in your dog (ours scratches repeatedly) and record them as spot #1 and spot #2 by circling and marking them on the attached dog card. This is for YOUR records so you can keep track of which area was which when you get your results back. Test tube, stick the sticker with the correct slot number on the tube, and prepare the swab by inserting it into the tube and stirring up the wet mucus at the bottom. Then wipe the designated area on the dog as instructed, reinsert the swab fully into the tube until it clicks, and grasp the tube. After both samples are wrapped, you seal the bag, place it in the mailbox, and mail it. Voila! (No offense doc, but why should we pay you for this part when we can do it so easily and cheaply?) Talk about the fast results! It took 3 days for the mail to deliver the mailer but MySimplePetLab told us (via email) it had arrived on the 3rd day and at the end of the same day they linked us to our results for review! Of course, both sites were positive for 2 (plot #1) and 3 (plot #2) conditions and only one was common. It's good to know that we now need to make an appointment with the vet to get our pup back on track.
