I don't know who would actually stick a plate under an aquarium. maybe in a little less than 55 gallons, but personally I don't like it. Also the type of stand I use to support my aquarium precludes this. However, I found a way to get this to work and it does exactly what I need it to do. I had to put the record on top of the box and then weigh it down with books and a metal box. Also, I use it to temporarily support two lamps for the winter. It is usually only used for this bright white mercury lamp. You can't put an MVB directly on top of an aquarium if you have to open it daily to feed. It's one thing to toss a lightbulb improperly, but if you do it too often with a mercury lamp you risk damaging an expensive lightbulb.
