Got 2 of these for our dog to wear after surgery - she had a large fatty tumor removed from her right chest wall. They worked really well and the dog seemed to like them too! She weighs about 40 pounds and is a mutt - maybe a border collie and/or some kind of spitz. I ordered the big ones and they worked fine. At first they seemed a little small around her breasts, but that was mainly due to their fullness. We squished it and they fit great. She doesn't usually wear clothes and doesn't even take lengthy bows from the barber, but I wanted something to keep her from licking the slit. We originally rested her from the vet after coming home and she was lethargic and quite irritable with our cats, which she usually tolerates well. After she slept a bit, we started putting one of them on her. She didn't like it, but it didn't bother her. One of the best things about these vests/coats is that you don't have to put them on the dog's head or put your hands through anything, so putting them on a dog who isn't used to clothing is less stressful. . The velcro is strong and wide, and the fabric is stretchy so any size should fit a variety of dog sizes. In addition, the presence of Velcro on the chest and sides allows the vest to adapt to different body proportions. Anyway, I was concerned that the pressure of the neoprene might be too much, but she actually perked up as soon as she put it on. She began to move more willingly and her attitude towards cats changed significantly. It seemed like it was because she knew the cats couldn't get to her incision anymore, so she relaxed with them. Overall I am very happy with my purchase and I don't know what we would do without them. They are in fantastic condition and still look like new. I'll try to remember to put it on next time we seem to be in a storm to see if it can act as a lightning rod. It had such a calming effect on her while she was so uncomfortable, I have high hopes.
