Review on πŸ”₯ GASLAND Chef GH30SF 12" Gas Cooktop: Dual Burner Stovetop with Thermocouple Protection by Faliere Jorge

Revainrating 5 out of 5

Great for the price! Propane users beware.

Great value! Two of the reasons I ordered this was to have a burner small enough for 3 cups of moka and another large enough to heat large cast irons more evenly. He does both! Propane Users: Be sure to do a full setup when converting it to burn LPG (Liquid Propane) instead of Natural Gas. If you don't, your maximum flame will be too small and your minimum flame will be only slightly smaller. The manual sucks, so read that (but read the manual too). Remember I have a 24 inch model. 1) You will need to replace the burner nozzles (they come with the kit, just remove the old ones with a socket wrench and install the new ones in their place according to the chart in the manual and keep them in case you sell your unit to someone who Natural gas used), 2) You must reverse the diaphragm spring inside the pressure regulator, this will increase the maximum flame to normal size (use a wrench to remove the large nut on the regulator and install the spring reversely to match the drawing to match for LPG, then mount regulator) AND 3) I strongly recommend adjusting the burner valves. This further increases the flame detection range. To adjust the burner valves you must remove the stainless steel cooktop by loosening the screws on each burner head. This will expose small adjustment screws next to each knob. The manual implies you can access it without removing the cover, but that's not possible for me. Therefore, without installing the cover, place the burner covers on each burner so that they control the flame properly, then light and adjust one burner at a time. The adjustment screws control how small the flame can be made at the lowest setting. So when the flame is burning, turn the knob to the lowest cooking level and very carefully adjust the small screw so that the flame is as small as possible without going out. Now you have a good choice, from small to large. I wish the flame setting was smoother, going up or down in small 'steps' as you turn the knob, but given the hob's low cost, that's understandable. One more thing for propane, 4) You will need a brass adapter for the gas line, at least I had one. Mine required me to get a '3/8' male cone onto a 1/2 'male tube, coupler half'. Be sure to check what type of connection your gas line has. It costs about $8, but the end of the tube connects to the hob and the tapered end connects to your prop guide (if it's a standard RV style like mine). A great product for the low price! The heavy cast iron grates are strong and fit well, and the burner caps fit well and control the flame well. Electric ignition is nice. Easy to use. I'm tempted to downgrade a bit due to all the minor inconveniences of setup and the fact that sometimes small parts of the flame aren't 100% perfect on very low settings, and the slightly twitchy temperature control. . But for the price I have to give a high rating.
