This was the first Lamaze toy I bought for my daughter. She was just under a month old but we could see that she needed something to keep her entertained so she couldn't sleep during the day. In fact, she didn't have any toys yet, and Mom and Dad could only entertain her until she stopped looking at her. So we bought Jacques and I'm very happy about it. There wasn't much she could do to play with the toy on her own, but when we flapped our wings in front of her or switched it from color to black and white and back again, it made her smile. If we helped her squeeze his squeaker, her eyes would light up with excitement. Now three and a half months old, she loves to smack him (now he's hanging from a clip attached to her exercise mat) and rustle his wings. She also starts using her fingers to grab the toy. This toy has so many sensory elements for the child to explore different patterns and textures, a rattle, squeaker, small ribbons and a high contrast black and white back. You have tactile, visual and auditory exploration for a child in one toy. They are made of durable and high-quality materials, making them durable toys that will keep your child entertained for a long time. Highly recommended! If you like Jacques I also recommend Fifi the Firefly (although my mom calls it Betty the Butterfly).
