I have been a dog mom (2 different dogs) for 23 years and I always dress my dogs in dog boots. We live in Chicago, where people brutally salt the sidewalks. I'm not sure I've ever put paw covers on my dog that lasted more than a week or so. Without exception, we came home from walks in only 2-3 shoes. They just didn't stay. My current dog runs and jumps in the snow almost to his size, catching and bringing balls, and these boots (real, red ones) survived a month and a half. Now we have to replace them because their nails got too long and they ended up piercing their butt. Now I don't think there's anything wrong with the soles of the boots. I think my dog was too rough with them. I could be wrong but the floors appear to be quite substantial. In any case I'm so happy with these boots that I bought another pair to get through this winter and another model from the same manufacturer, fully waterproof and with some serious paw pads. (These boots are waterproof enough for snow, but others are better suited for rainy weather and puddles.)
