Review on πŸ“€ Sony DVP-NS700H/B DVD Player: Enhance Your Viewing Experience with 1080p Upscaling, Black by Shawn Reiter

Revainrating 5 out of 5

Great upscaling player at an affordable price.

I recently switched to HD technology after buying a wonderful Sony LCD. I have about 400 DVDs and wouldn't even come close to swapping them for a Blu-Ray, so I bought this awesome little upscaler. First, it's cheap for Sony! I connected it to my Sony LCD with an HDMI cable and what happened? I've read so many reviews saying the quality is close to HD but the quality hasn't been compromised in any way. Well here is my opinion. No, it's far from HD quality; However, this greatly improved the picture. More than a regular DVD player paired with an HDTV. Why? because I was camping. I connected my regular DVD player using a component cable as it obviously didn't have an HDMI port. HDMI makes a big difference. The colors are bright, saturated, sharp and clear. I would say the image resembled a cinema, only brighter. If you're not ready to switch to Blu-ray, do it. It is sold for change with free shipping and no tax. If I had to replace my DVD collection, it would cost around $7,000. Compare that to 70. Of course it's not HD, but I'm actually quite happy with the picture I get with this DVD upscaler. Also, it looks really nice. Pretty much everything is black and it's hard to find the slot until it pops open. Kind of futuristic. Highly recommended.* Picture quality summary: I've noticed that some movies are close to HD quality. Especially the new Star Wars movies. So it's kind of a lottery. The picture of most movies is nowhere near HD, but there are a few.
