The thermometer comes with an extra lithium battery, so it was nice. Very easy to use, open the probe and it will turn on automatically. Quickly switch from Celsius to Fahrenheit with the push of a button. The large display and the illuminated display at the push of a button make reading the temperature very easy. I ran a simple test using 32F ice water temperature and 212F boiling. Since I mostly measure hot and the cooking was pretty accurate, I didn't think I needed to calibrate the lower limit. Overall easy to use, easy to clean and easy to store. The probe is foldable for easy tossing in a desk drawer, and the probe tip is also protected so it cannot be punctured when removed for use.
