I was on my property moving my trailer when I found I couldn't turn the engine off with the key and this can be a real problem when you're not close to home are. I fiddled with it for a few minutes and was finally able to get it off, but I took the truck to where it would be easy to work with because I didn't drive it again until I changed the switch. If this happens to you, don't think about it... just replace it ASAP and don't drive until it's done. I replaced the derailleur in my '90 Chevy K2500 pickup with a Standard Motors derailleur in 2000 because it was as cheap as it is now and I couldn't pay about three times what I would pay for a Dorman 924-791. It was my fault and while this one does what it's supposed to do it's not very easy to get out of the locked position and the key doesn't have a knockout. The cut out makes it easy to insert and rotate and now all I have left is the small hole shown in the photos. I thought for about $12 this would be on par with a lot of the other Dorrman parts currently on my truck but I'm a little disappointed with that but maybe I got just what I paid for. It does however have a huge guide on removing the old and installing the new with a step by step approach with photos and is way better than my Haynes or Chilton guides. It's not that hard but you will need it and I bought a Lisle 45000 puller and an Abigail plate tool and both were good choices. I also broke the plastic connector for the horn wire on the turn signal reset cam so I had to replace it with an ACDelco 26047013 and use a new Dorman horn wire 49319. The hardest part was removing the spring clip after the latch plate had been compressed. After everything was assembled, my key didn't work in the ignition buzzer, so I go back to set the gap because I don't pay $20 for a new one when I don't need it. I also need to make a new key because I can't stand this tiny hole and want one that will allow my keys to hang at the bottom instead of the middle...may seem insignificant until you know how hard it is to make the to grab key and turn it. Now when I go back I also fit new ACDelco GM 26047013 original equipment because the old one didn't look that good and I don't want to go back.
