It can work, it can't.

Checked resistance on each pot. All 20. Values were anywhere from 8.3k to 10.4k. I'm not sure what the actual value of the pot should be, but assuming it should be somewhere in between (9.3k) then the tolerance for such things would be 11%. I personally wouldn't design anything with 11% tolerance. That being said, the potentiometers seem to track well when the joystick is moved along the axis of motion. This is a much stiffer movement than standard joysticks. I'm not sure if they really work. I think I killed the board trying to remove the old joysticks. I just couldn't remove the solder enough for the old joysticks to fall out easily enough, so I probably set the board on fire and cracked the vias. I was able to get them out by breaking and removing various sections, then cleaning the holes and soldering in new joysticks, but after that they stopped working properly. Each input has been created twice, so it is not possible to use them.

Pros
  • Controller
Cons
  • The list is getting long.
